It's Kind of a Love/Hate Sorta Thing

I hate unloading the dishwasher
But I love an empty dishwasher. . .

I hate mopping the floor
But I love the smell (and look) of a clean floor.

I hate doing my hair and make up
But I love it when it's all done (most days :)).

I hate having a sick husband (cause I want him to feel better!)
But I love taking care of him.

I hate making the bed
But I love walking into our room seeing everything is in order.

I hate vacuuming
But I love the look of the vacuum stripes on a carpet.

I hate being lazy
But I love having a lazy moment. . . or two. . . :)

But, out of all those things I hate, I really just love having my own little home to decorate and clean and take care of. I love cooking and baking and taking care of this new little family. So, I may have some things I hate, but overall, I just really love my life right now!

Our New Living Room Furniture

I realize this post is over-due, but I wanted to show off our cute new living room furniture :) We went through a whole sale lady out of Shelley, which is about 30 minutes south of us. If you want to check her out, go here! The furniture is comfy, cozy and we love it!

These are my cute little purchases from Bed Bath and Beyond. We needed some lamps to put on our end tables, and these were only $14! For such little lamps, they let off a lot of light.

We just recently purchased the lamp in the corner as well as the coat rack with some of our Target gift cards. Best wedding gifts ever! :)

Just another view. . .

I really like how this area turned out. We bought a rubber mat with a lip to put wet shoes on. Our constant battle is wet carpet because of snowy shoes, so, to solve the problem, we bought the mat and are very pleased with it.

So, that's the living room. We love it and feel absolutely spoiled. I had my visiting teachers come over last Tuesday and one of them asked if I was an interior design major. I was flattered. But, all credit is due to my Mom. She taught me well. If not for her, I wouldn't be a very good wife either. She was (and still is) a great example of how to be a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, friend, etc. So, thank you Mom, I love you!

Our Photographer, Heidi, posted pictures of the wedding online. They're all from before the reception of family, but just in case any of you wanted to take a peek, go here! Enjoy! Oh, and she also put up the pages of our book she is making us as well, so take a gander at those! :)

Prayer for the Calaways

Last night around 10:30 pm, my father-in-law, Jeff, got a call from the Kittitas County Fire Department saying that one of his hay storage sheds was on fire. By the time the fire department got there, there wasn't any hope of saving anything. Please keep Jeff and Valerie in your prayers, I know they would greatly appreciate it. For the full story go here.

Just a few. . .

Here are a few of my favorite wedding pictures for all of you who are not able to see all the ones I posted on Facebook. Enjoy! (I tried to get more, but it kept telling me I had a bad request. I dunno why!)

A Few of my Favorite Things. . .

Today I decided to be adventurous and make homemade jam. Growing up, I cannot remember one time when we had store bought jam and I am determined to have it be that way for my family! I absolutely love my Mom's homemade jam, and I wanted to try my hand at making my own.

First though, let me just tell you a few of my new found favorite things- BOSCH. If you don't have one, get one. Holy smokes, they are amazing. Yeah, they're not as stylish as KithchenAid's, but they are an amazing little machine.

I love listening to Pride and Prejudice when I bake. I don't know why, I just do! It's my favorite by far.

Stirring the water/pectin/sugar mixture together

A successful batch of jam made. . .

Second, Rubbermaid stackable tupperware. If you have ever seen the commercials for it, it really is as amazing as it looks. I got two sets of 24 (12 containers, 12 lids) and they have been so handy. All the lids snap together, or you can snap corresponding lids to the bottoms of the containers. So, they stack up quite nicely. Anyhow, those are my two favorites of the day today. :)
Oh, and the jam turned out fabulously. I took a little taste and it tasted JUST like my moms. That made me very happy. Very happy indeed.

And for all of you who have Facebook accounts, I have wedding pictures posted! Enjoy! More to come too :)

Wedding Pictures

So we were supposed to go to our photographers on Saturday to view our pictures, but, we got a phone call instead. Heidi and Brian had been editing our pictures all day and designing our album when Heidi realized she wanted to add in a ton more pictures. And then a client showed up for an appointment that should have only taken a half hour, but turned into 3 hours. Oh yeah, they were a little put out. Anyhow, we re-scheduled for this evening at 5:15 and we will FINALLY get to see our wedding pictures! As for now, I am going to hunker down and write hundreds of Thank You's to all you who were at my wedding. They're coming, I PROMISE!

Our New House!

So here they are. The pictures of our new house! Well, we're just renting it for now, but we're making it our own the best we can! Before we get to the real pictures though, here's a classic newlywed picture. Eating McDonald's on everyday china. . . without a table. . . it doesn't make it any healthier either- in case you were wondering.

I am pretty sure this is Dallin's favorite part of the house. The entertainment center. He and his Dad built it for us. We painted it. I think it turned out awesome! Dallin did all the distressing on it. I am telling you, he is far more artistic than I am. You'll see even more evidence as you scroll down :)

This may be my favorite part of the house. Well, I have a lot of favorites right now. I think I am just excited that it's mine and I can do with it what I want :) We won't be keeping the massive picture of us up on that shelf, I promise. It's just resting there til we bite the bullet and get it custom framed. . . Thanks to all who gave me the cute signs! I LOVE them!

Ok, so this is another favorite. I love my bathroom choices. The sign- I was a little worried about when we first received it because it was blue and I couldn't think of anything in my house that would be blue. I forgot there was blue in my towels and so thankfully we get to use the sign because I love(d) it!

Here is the bathroom in full view. Small, but it works. Just the two of us!

Onto the bedroom. I was so wishy-washy with my bedroom because I kept jumping between two different styles; back-woodsyish and more modern/contemporaryish. I finally decided modern/contemporaryish was the way to go!

Kind of a lot of brown, but I tried to throw in some green. The light makes the pillows look kinda gold, but I promise, they're green! :) (Oh, and ignore all the wrinkles. . . . and the hideous green carpet. . .)

The kitchen is kinda hard to make cute. It's gettin there though, I promise. Once the table and chairs are totally finished, it'll be a lot easier :) Don't mind the dises in the sink either. Woops!

Here are the chairs we inherited from my mom and dad. A fresh coat of black paint makes em look pretty snazzy, eh? :)

And here is where I prove that my husband is FAR more artistic than I. Check out the legs on this table. Yup, that was all him. I was going to try and have a whack at em, but in the end we decided it was better for him to do it, considering he had the technique down and all. This little beauty used to grace the home of Rachel and Chad, but they so graciously donated it to the "Ashley and Dallin have no table and would like to have a surface to eat on" fund. We painted it black (are you sensing a black theme yet??) and turned it into a pretty dang cute table if I do say so myself!
It's still a work in progress. We're waiting for couches, a couple end tables and a coffee table. We should get them next week sometime. More pictures to follow! And, we also have another bedroom in the house, but that will not be pictured. It consists of boxes, rubbermaids, boxes, rubbermaids, boxes and boxes! It's our storage room and we are very grateful for it. Wedding pictures should be up by Sunday, we're going to the photographers tomorrow! Can't wait!!
